1973 Plymouth Barracuda
A nicely customized version of the Plymouth Barracuda, this looks like the cars that defined muscle cars. These cars are highly collectable today because by 1973 demand for muscle cars was in decline. Thanks to the Arab oil embargo and tough insurance costs buyers were looking for economy cars, not high-performance muscle cars.
This 2-door coupe sports a custom blue and white paint job with a white vinyl top. The hood is from a 340 “Cudda” with those dramatic twin air scoops. Rally wheels with Redline tires add to the look of this customized muscle car.
The engine is actually the 318 cu.in V8 with high performance options. The stock 318 delivered 150 hp. But this is not the original engine. Disc brakes in the front and electronic ignition were standard in this model. The transmission is the floor mounted automatic preferred by most customers at the time. Power brakes, power steering and air conditioning make this a civilized muscle car.
The interior is also customized in white vinyl with bucket seats in the front and a bench seat in the back.
The odometer reads 91,570.
These cars are becoming quite collectable because of the limited production runs at the end of the muscle car age.
