Production of the Indy ended in 1975. In total 1,104 were produced,[4] 440 of them Indy 4.2s, 364 Indy 4.7s and 300 Indy 4.9s.

From 1971 the two new versions, destined for the North American market were renamed the Indy America. It was during this year that a 4.9-litre engine was added to the range, this Indy now boasted the same power unit as the Ghibli SS but with a slightly lower power output of 320 bhp (against the Ghibli's 335 bhp) giving the Indy a top speed of 170 mph (280 kph).

This 1972 Maserati Indy 4900 Coupe is a special car that has been in the same family since it rolled off the lot at Algar Ferrari in Philadelphia. All numbers match. Driven sparingly by three generatons of owners, this Indy spent the majority of its life garaged and covered. Lovingly restored over the past decade, this gorgeous GT car drives beautifully and is in excellent mechanical condition.

For the past decade the car has undergone a complete mechanical overhaul and tuning by Rennsport Automotive in Bedford Hills, NY. All systems are in excellent working order. All service records dating back to the 1980s are available, and the car has never been in an accident.
Some body repair work has been done on the driver's side door, the gas tanks have been replaced, all rubber is new, and every replacement part has been supplied by MIE corp in Washington State. While a full frame-off restoration was not completed, almost every inch of this car, inside and out, has been restored to like-new condition. New paint, restored interior.
