Description
Maxwell cars began in Tarrytown, NY in 1905, and relocated to a permanent facility in Highland Park, Michigan in 1913. Jonathan Maxwell devised “a splendid little car, featuring a two-cylinder, water-cooled engine, with mechanically-operated inlet valves, a honey-comb radiator with thermo-siphon cooling, a two-speed planetary gears, shaft drive and right-hand steering wheel.”
By 1914, Maxwell had sold 60,000 cars, but unfortunately, the start of the roaring Twenties couldn't help boost the company. Maxwell cars ended production in 1925 as the assets were absorbed into the new Chrysler Corporation.
This Maxwell has been with the Museum since the early 2000s and is featured at no reserve.
All of the proceeds of the sale of this Maxwell return to the Saratoga Automobile Museum.
Estimate: $15,000 - 20,000
