2015 Ferrari 458 Speciale 2-Door Coupe, Pininfarina
Chassis No. ZFF75VFA3F0209725
The Ferrari 458 Italia was officially unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show as the successor to the F430. The mid-engine tourer is powered by a 4.5-litre V-8 coupled to a 7-speed dual clutch automatic. This was Ferrari's first mainstream model not offered with a manual transmission and the first mid-engine road car to use direct fuel-injection. Ferrari claimed a 0-60mph time of 3.4 seconds and a top speed of over 202mph. The body was designed by Pininfarina under the leadership of Donato Coco, the Ferrari design director during 2009.
Around 15,000 Ferrari 458 Italias were produced and sold between 2009 to 2015, with Ferrari increasing production to meet demand. Reportedly, the car's interior was designed using input from former Ferrari Formula 1 driver Michael Schumacher. In a layout common to racing cars, the new steering wheel incorporates many controls normally located on the dashboard or on stalks.
The Speciale was unveiled as a high-performance variant of the 458, also at the Frankfurt Auto Show; however, four years later in 2013. Enhancements to the Speciale include forged wheels, a vented hood, finned side sills, and active aerodynamics with a taller spoiler and redesigned front and rear bumpers. The engine received upgrades to 597hp along with updates to the electronic traction control while providing a 0-62mph time of 3 seconds and a 0-120mph run in just 9.1 seconds.
A total of 3,000 Speciales were produced from 2013 to 2015; the last of the naturally-aspirated Ferraris. This example is finished in Nero with Scuderia front fender shields and gold stripes and matching rims. Inside, you'll find equally handsome Nero Alcantara and leather with white stitching and carbon fiber accents.
