Description

Originally the early Corvettes were underpowered and lacked the suspension to be seen as real “sports cars.” Then GM got serious and by 1960, under the influence of the legendary Zora Arkus Duntov and his team at Chevrolet, the Corvette evolved into a high powered and properly handling real sports car that could compete in international races like LeMans and Sebring with good results.
By 1960 Chevrolet offered a range of seven engine options using the small black 283 cu.in. V-8 and the most desirable are the fuel-injected models with improved horsepower, nicknamed “Fuelies.”
This particular Corvette, driven only 500 miles since extensive restoration, an excellent example of a sought after 1960 Chevrolet Corvette with that Rochester Fuel Injection, a highly collectable “Fuelie.”
This car received meticulous restoration 8 years ago with new Ermine White paint, new front end, new chrome work including grill, new white walls and red interior. Wheel coves are painted the correct silver and all badges are new or correct.
The owner believes this is a numbers matching car with a 283 cu. in. V8 putting out 250 hp. Like all “Fuelies” it has a four-speed transmission but with a special floor mounted Hurst 4-speed shifter. The owner can supply the original shifter.
The engine was redone 10-years ago. With more horsepower these Corvettes featured a larger aluminum radiator. To match their power these “Vettes” also received a stronger front sway bar as well as a new rear sway bar, which greatly improved handling.
This car comes with a white fiberglass hard top and a black convertible top. The radio is original model.
The owner has a photo album documenting the restoration. The trunk includes a spare and jack tools with a black trunk carpet.
Overall in excellent condition this is a rare opportunity to own a car that helped create the Corvette legend as America's true sports car. It will provide many miles of spirited motoring.
